Sweater weather is upon us, and so too is boot season. Naturally, the best (and perhaps only) way to celebrate is to exercise a bit of self indulgence, and consider adding once again to your ever-burgeoning shoe collection. While you may already have a pair of Blundstones somewhere in your closet, the Australian company is giving you a pretty solid reason to revisit the original Chelsea boot brand. This month, Blundstone released its newest fall look, and it's the first time the company has ever debuted a women's heeled boot.

While the Tasmania-based bootmaker previously shied away from adding some height onto its boots in hopes of preserving its unisex appeal, it has since changed its approach. After all, who loves a great boot better than the modern day woman, and what modern day woman doesn't want to add a few inches to her stature? Certainly, as someone who is vertically challenged, I can only imagine that the answer to both the aforementioned questions is a resounding, "No one."

What I love most about the new Blundstone Women's Heel boot is its dedication to classic design and expert craftsmanship. The boot won't catch your eye because of its crazy colors or curious styling, but will rather draw compliments thanks to its versatility and ability to elevate just about any outfit. Available in three classic tones — antique black, brown, and taupe leather — there isn't an occasion for which I haven't found these boots to be appropriate.

First and foremost, we should talk about the leather. Supple and comfortable, the leather upper of the boot forms well to your foot — I tend to prefer narrower shoes, and I found that these shoes boots were perfect. That said, women with wider feet should also be perfectly comfortable in these boots, as the leather is forgiving enough to avoid any discomfort resulting from pinching.

When it comes to the heel, the height is sensible enough that you wouldn't feel silly going into the woods while wearing this boot.

While I probably wouldn't want to hike the Appalachian Trail in these Blundstones, I would feel perfectly comfortable traipsing all around a concrete jungle, and more wild parts of the great outdoors as well. They're great for both the road less traveled and the more familiar paved sidewalk, and while the heel gives you just a boost of arch support and confidence, it's not enough to make your feet hurt at the end of a long day.

Blundstone has also prioritized durability with its latest Chelsea boot. There are no zippers on the shoe to speak of, which means you won't have to worry about anything breaking, coming apart, or getting stuck. Putting on your boot is as easy as pulling it onto your foot, which is made even easier by the presence of two loops — one in front of the ankle and one on the heel of the boot. And because the heel is fully fastened onto the sole of the boot, there's no concern that it'll come undone over time. I haven't had my own pair long enough to put them through the true ringer, but from what I can tell, this is one pair that will be part of my wardrobe for the foreseeable future.

The boot is also particularly comfortable — the midsole is cushioned, and there's a heel pad that helps with shock absorption. That's particularly important in non-flats, and makes this pair a joy to wear.

Ultimately, Blundstone has managed to combine the timeless elegance of the original Chelsea boot with the growing demand for just a little extra oomph when it comes to the ideal woman's shoe. And that's something that the brand hopes to continue to do as it builds upon its venerable reputation.

"To continue our growth and success over the next few years, it is vital to further enhance our presence within the women's category," said Steve Libonati, Blundstone's US distributor. "We pride ourselves on our heritage, but also understand the importance of evolving our styles, as the needs of consumers and their lifestyle continues to change."

The Women's Heeled Boot is available now for $189.95. That's certainly not a bargain price, but considering the craftsmanship, durability, and versatility of the boot, it seems like a fair trade.
